"Hateful tweets will no longer be promoted algorithmically in users’ feeds, he said, but they will not be taken down."

Just stop promoting everything...

That number is huge being that this is voluntary. Elon really did fuck around and found out.
On the chart video floating around he’s at an 11 which is “hardcore” level.
Or he wanted to hire his own team and now doesn't have to pay severance.
Own team of what? It's not like he can reallocate developers from SpaceX or Tesla, they're already lean af. He hasn't bought any good will in the tech community either, so what cohort of people is he trying to appeal to that would work at Twitter? Whatever it is, it surely will be a polarizing one.
He's paying three months severance.
Not if they quit
Nobody is quitting en mass. These are all numbers of people opting into a generous Severance package
I would see loss of institutional knowledge as a problem
Other reports say to bring 10 screenshots of impactful code so he can learn about the systems.... this is caricature.
Bring me a photo of an engine, so I can learn more how to service them.
I would add random stuff to my commits, like Q_rsqrt, to look smarter
1200 is way less than what was being reported elsewhere. Seems roughly 70-80% chose to stay.
Or 70-80% cant leave (ex. New mortgage, sickness, etc ) and delaying exit as they start to look at other opportunities elsewhere.
Or they don't like their chances in the sea of unemployed tech workers after all of the other layoffs at Amazon, Facebook, etc.
I suppose the people still there must either be Elon fanboys, or have really limited options (e.g. in the country on a work visa).

I'm imagining a big tech company suddenly run by James Damores, rather than having a minority of them scattered about.
