I've used Proxmox before for running a Windows VM for gaming inside a Linux/Proxmox self-hosted server, so I could have everything I needed on one machine, software apps as well as games. Unfortunately, games started implementing anti-cheat so I stopped using Proxmox, booted into raw Windows 11 and migrated to a PaaS online for my software apps.

This software Looking Glass was great when I used it though.

I also used Proxmox to run macOS as its own VM, a Hackintosh basically. Nick Sherlock has great guides on how to do this: https://www.nicksherlock.com/2022/10/installing-macos-13-ven...

I thought that name sounded familiar. I had a few Comp Sci papers with Nick about 16 years ago. Small world
I use Proxmox at my work for our various web and windows servers. Works pretty good, now If I could get something newer than sandy bridge Xeons it will perform just as well too.

Mind you the storage was a pain to work with and the cluster had a lot of issues, but they iron a lot of it out in recent releases.

I recently bought a Beelink U59 and set up Proxmox VE on it. I ended up running ~11 different VMs for my smart home set up, pi.hole, a local K8s cluster, etc.

Now I have two Beelinks running in a two node cluster. I took notes on the entire set up and hope to write a blog or two detailing the setup.

Please do! I also recently purchased a Beelink U59 and have not decided what exactly I want to do with it.
I threw proxmox on a desktop pc I pulled from the trash about a year ago. Since then I've been steadily adding new containers to host more servers.

Anyway long story short, I've got a used PowerEdge server and some rack hardware being delivered on Friday. I somehow even managed to get my fiance on board because it could host his among us server.

I just know I'm going to regret this. Proxmox is a gateway drug to homelabbing. Please use caution
