So Uyghurs in concentration camps and 3 years of on/off draconian restrictions - they sleep. But a few protests and they cancel their trips?
As someone who left China after Xi got into power I find the West's attitude towards the country hard to understand. But I also can not explain why an apartment fire in Urumqi would be the final straw that gets folks on the streets. Especially in places like Shanghai where the lockdown was insane.
Not that anything will come of it, Xi's grip of the system is absolute at this point.
This could be just the beginning of bigger protests. As an American, I wouldn’t go to china even if I can, who knows whether I would be stuck in lockdown and cannot come back on time to work especially with all the layoffs going on in America.
Apple seems quite impacted in terms of iPhone production? Didn’t this partially start out of one Foxconn factory where they forced the lockdowns a bit too much?
The demonstration in Shanghai is a significant milestone, it's the first time in recent decades, a group of Chinese fight for the rights of another group of Chinese.
Technology wise, nothing worth noting, the censorship is complete there.
