Ask HN: How's the Transition to Mastodon Going?

Hi, I am looking for an alternative to Twitter but after a brief review of Mastodon I could not find anything exciting about it. I guess the ability of creating your own fork of the project is interesting, but not from a user perspective. What do you think? Is it any good? Have you have any suggestion?

The ability to create a fork is nothing compared to the fact that you own your information.

What else do you want? It’s decentralized and people can follow you across different instances.

Have yet to see anything really appealing about mastodon. Don't think I really liked Twitter either except for the fact that everyone is on it already.
