As much as I'd love society to wake up from blindly trusting celebrities, billionaires, sports players, and musicians... it is and will continue to be the strongest tool that the 1% has against the 99%, along with pushing division to keep us (the people not in their bracket) fighting amongst ourselves. I don't expect society to change overnight or even in the next decade, but I feel that the elites see their trillions shrinking into billions, and billions to millions and so they are literally engaged in a culture war that will be very hard to defeat to maintain their status quo.
I also think it is time to sharpen our critical minds and stop steel manning everything said by anyone with power, money or past success.
House of cards are built on blind faith and are ultimately detrimental for society.
But this kind of skeptical reasoning should be applied with nuance, quite a few innovators are at the same time brilliant and insane, like Howard Hughes or Kanye West, and to some extent we could include Isaac Newton and Nikola Tesla.
