The stars are really aligning for Elon Musk's new censorship free Twitter.
Not sure Twitter is immune here.
Ironically, legislation of this kind usually (in other industries) is written or promoted by incumbents to be a barrier to entry that can reduce competition because only big companies can deal with it. Twitter is much better positioned to either fight or comply in some hollow way, vs smaller companies that have real problems to work on.

I know some laws like this only apply to platforms of a certain size though, that may be the case here.

Musk has threatened to develop a new Phone if Apple and Google block Twitter from their devices. I would hope he lets the UK block Twitter before implementing China-like regional censoring.

I was curious about Musk's dependencies in China (Tesla Gigafactory/ Chinese Car Market access), and just now learned that Twitter is blocked country-wide there. (but routinely accessed by VPN) So if The CCP in particular threatens Musk to censor Twitter, he can just tell them that's their problem.

I don’t think that really changes anything regarding the law / article.
Sounds like the exact opposite of aligning to me.
Musk wont unban Alex Jones (which is fine by me) because of what he's said. And Musk has said he'll shadowban people who don't pay the $8 a month.
As a proud Murican, I sincerely hope this nonsense doesn't affect "moderation" here. We fought a war of independence for a reason!
At least we're still pioneering something, not anything meaningful like the economy or medicine, but good old authoritarianism
This is about controlling information, not stopping sexism or racism. The British government has profited from both for many centuries. Ask women. Ask India and the Middle East.
