"Roberson is already working through what these questions mean for him personally. He’s been a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) throughout his entire college experience, which includes serving on the executive board for two years."

Reminds me of when I was a member of the National Society of White Engineers. I too was on the executive board for 2 years. I wouldn't put that on my CV though! And I wouldn't dare wear a 'White Space' bomber jacket, either! Its a 'bovver boy' look, only the patches are more in your face!

That's a joke. But, in all seriousness - how is making a big deal out of anyone's colour acceptable? I accept MIT is not doing it out of meanness, they are trying to be fair minded.

But its surely obvious that the only unfair thing here is the positive discrimination that is being practised? To me, this is overt racism. You can talk about 'systemic racism', but what's plainly systemic to me is this type of over 'positive discrimination' - written into policies, laws, etc.

I know MIT etc mean well, but to not see that they are the actual embodiment of the thing they profess to hate (systemic racism) is amazing to me.
