Everyone knows this already, they just won’t say it out loud because geopolitical reasons.

My understanding is the consensus is it leaked, but not everyone agrees it was man-made.
Hmm good point. Though the delta between “man made and leaked from a lab” and “not man made but leaked from a lab” seems… trivial. Especially when their mandate was gain of function research.
Now perhaps.

It was not too long ago that discussion of the lab leak hypothesis would be screamed down by either zealots taking orders from mainstream media or state agents of disinformation. Not that the difference matters.

I'm trying to figure out how long he worked at the lab. It seems like it was between 2014 and 2016.

But they also say he worked at "New York-based" EcoHealth -- and then later that that nonprofit "helped the Wuhan lab put together" some research.

Would the headline feel different if it read, "Covid was man-made virus, says scientist who worked briefly at Wuhan lab sometime between 2014 and 2016."
