I appreciate the gesture but I’m actually not sure it’s useful to read articles like this - the cops just do whatever they want. Constitutional law is a useless thing to study under the Gorsich(sp? On my phone) court.
The way it is now, if you set things up they have nothing on you legally, they move to questioning your sanity.
I actually just had someone try to send a crisis team into my home out of false concern because they couldn’t engineer an excuse to send the police.
It’s worse in a way, since there’s less case law about that than interactions with the police.
(With an added bonus that now my neighbors think I’m insane since that interaction is very visible, and on my end I feel like there’s a set of people who have zero incentive to let me be independent and healthy when they make more money if I’m in their care, to the point I’m considering emigration since I always was happy outside the USA and most of these behaviors and interactions don’t happen to me in places like London, Paris, Amsterdam etc in the past… not just because you are on holiday but because it’s truly a different, more respectful culture and I regret not getting on a plane before these thugs extorted my emergency fund away then started bullying me.
Lawyer here, completely reasonable to feel that way -- but this is still incredibly important. It's hard to even begin to hold people to a baseline when there's complete cynicism that the baseline even exists.
Re why I described your comment as an attack: "I don't really care what you think if you're a $foo" and "find a community of your own to post in" are hostile if not outright aggressive. Of course jrm4 is welcome here. We don't want HN to be a place where people hound other people out of the community. Please don't post like that again.

How can I express the above (no lawyers) wo bumping on the guidelines?
Maybe I’m not understanding how you define “personal attack”.

Also I don’t have the data to support it but often if I get one vote it’s who I replied to so a flag and an upvote seemed odd.
I’ll lurk more and try to stay positive.
