Will AI in games ever use ChatGPT
I was thinking of how crazy it would be if games such as GTA in the future could have deals with OpenAI to create super smart AI characters. Imagine pedestrians each having entire lives, with complete back stories… all individuals.
Is this the future of gaming?

[ 2.9 ms ] story [ 32.2 ms ] threadI'm pretty sure someone will try this.
And then there will be dating games...
On the other hand, if everything is generated procedurally, nothing really is. Save for few parasocial interactions, for most players it would feel.. empty. No Man's Sky is a great example of procedural emptiness. Yes, the worlds are generated fully, you can land anywhere and explore the whole planet one by one, but why would you. Save for some hand-designed structures the worlds are just uninteresting, see one part of it and you've seen all. Same thing would probably happen with AIs. As soon as player knows none of it has human touch in it, that it was generated all algoritmically, it loses a part of its soul, not to be too poetic.
The use I'd love for it would be fully interactable tutorials. Just came back to a game after half a year? Just ask the tutorialGPT to tell me the controls and outline the story and we're set. Who was that guy? What does this item do? Can't imagine the AI would have too much of a problem with answering those questions, if given the game script.
