Ask HN: Good options for rural mobile internet

1 points by starlight_nomad ↗ HN
For what I can only describe as 'old man reasons' my dad will no longer accept being a customer of the broadband internet provider in his rural area. I am trying to find a suitable alternative for him such as a 4g hotspot device, preferably that can run on the AT&T network. Does anyone have any good experience with any particular devices?

Not rural, by I had a Verizon Home LTE device (4G) for a while and it worked surprisingly well (except when the microwave was running). I got it directly through Verizon.
I'll have a look and see if AT&T has a good offering in that space. Similar old man reasons means he also doesn't want to use Verizon.
