> Forget the dreams of some billionaires, there is no planet B.

Why listen to one of the most effective humans who has ever lived, when you could listen to the U.N., one of the most pointless organizations in human history?

What makes you think we could sustainably take care of planet B even if it was a viable option? Not to mention how optimal the living conditions have been on earth until we fucked up.
I'm not expressing any opinion one way or the other about the topic. Just laughing at the idea that the U.N. has any credibility whatsoever. Also laughing at the Musk hate. It's very in vogue right now with the leftist busybodies.
Any other planet we can realistically travel to faces the same problems earth appears to face, but several orders of magnitude worse.

If we can't unfuck Earth, we sure as hell can't fix Mars.

Pretty sure the electric car company founder understands that.
Teraforming a planet is part of the skillset needed to fund (well, more like acquire) an EV company?
Where did I say he had the skills to pull off terraforming? I said that he understands that there's no point in terraforming other planets without clean energy and transportation.
Living on Mars will be trash. Even if we pull it off, it will be like being stuck in a submarine or Antarctica in the winter. 'Outside' doesn't exist for you without significant protections.

Nothing can come close to replicating what we have on Earth so the point is valid.

Most professional environmentalists (broadly speaking: ecologists, economists etc) I know believe we are not able to bring these problems under control or that the UN is able to do any good. As an example, the UN climate conference has failed to address reducing fossil fuel production across 27 annual meetings. At some point the UN will need to ask itself if it is part of the cure, or part of the disease.
