Ask HN: How do I get a personal page design that doesn’t suck?
I just want to focus on content. I want a minimal, fast, legible page that is built from Markdown.
I’ve tried four or five times now. Dozens of hours wasted learning frameworks and testing out themes and designs.
I don’t have thousands of dollars for a designer to come save me. So I’m feeling frustrated and lost at how to get something that’s serviceable so I can move on to the content.
Every blog I see linked on this website seems so nice in comparison!
For reference, my current attempt. I hate it. https://todays.pointless.click/

Where are people finding these open source themes? I found like five valid candidates for Eleventy. Tried Hugo for a while.
Good luck and thanks for the thoughts!
Basically every modern blog engine or CMS has a theme directory, either 1st party by the developers or run by the community.
Add a markdown plugin if you really need it.
There's also the classic "Tufte" solutions, here's one: https://jamstackthemes.dev/theme/tufte/
