First I thought this was a belated covid mask thing. I've actually used fan-powered masks from LG during the pandemic because I already have some respiratory issues. There was really a usecase for them. I also use a CPAP mach

But this doesn't make sense, it's not even sealed to the face. And yet it claims to filter gases?

Very surprised to see such a snake oil product from a manufacturer with a pretty decent reputation. Though I've never liked the brand, their AirBlade hand dryers at work are useless for drying hands and they make this eardrum-piercing noise. No way would I spend money for their stuff :P

If it creates positive pressure around the nose and mouth, does it have to be completely sealed? This isn't being used on spacewalks or anything.
I finally gave in to their relentless marketing and went to Bed Bath & Beyond to try their handheld cordless vacuum. I was shocked at 1) how heavy it was compared to my Dustbuster, and 2) how difficult — almost impossible for me, in fact — it was to remove the dirt canister. Unequivocal FAIL
Naomi Wu has been calling this the 'snot cannon' since it was announced. Going to project the wearer's microdroplets much further than they would typically go. May marginally protect the wearer at the expense of exposing everyone around them to any pathogens they may have.
Peak Golden Age Consumerism.
This seems possibly worse than useless for dealing with pathogens, however in places with abysmal air quality due to pollution, I can see a possible value prop.
Dyson saw the canned fresh air vending machines in China and thought why not
If I ever ever see anyone wearing these it'll blow my mind
Never buying anything Dyson again after discovering (the expensive way) that they've neglected (likely intentionally) to implement cell balancing in their cordless vac batteries: https://hackaday.com/2022/05/23/fighting-back-against-dodgy-...
Milwaukee does this as well it seems, the M12 batteries I've had fail and taken apart seem to have no method of balancing the cells. They have sense lines to the charger from each cell, but those go through a 1k resistor so don't seem like they could be used for active balancing.
