Ask HN: How to stop doing homework days before the deadline?

From the question it's not clear to me that the problem is that you are doing the homework too early or too late. I mean, sometimes you get a homework assignment on Tuesday that is due on Thor's day. Other times you have a 2 month project and try to get that done in the last 2 days and that's a problem.
