This case is weird and doesn't follow the journalist bans, unless the reason Elon is blocking links to Mastodon is just to block access to ElonJet by any means possible.
Makes it somewhat more difficult for the survivors to direct people towards finding the departed at their new home.
mastodon tweeted about the story
It's not just that Twitter has banned the @joinmastodon account on Twitter, or banned links to the ElonJet account at https://mastodon.social/@elonjet, or banned links to https://mastodon.social in general.

It's banning many Mastodon servers. For example, I am unable to link to my own profile at https://hachyderm.io/@cldellow. My profile doesn't link to or follow the ElonJet account. Why is my profile banned?

And like, cool, his sandbox, his rules. But yeah, it seems a little... non free-speechy.

There is now no good use for twitter other than steering people off of twitter.

The fediverse is where microblogging should happen now. We should collectively turn our backs on twitter. Twitter needs to collapse into nothing.

How is this not anti-competitive (or lack of the right word) and therefore illegal? If MS removed all links to Apple I would imagine a lawsuit would endure (and the list goes on for other examples)
