Journalists have been banned from Twitter long before Elon turned up with his sink, why the concern now?
Because, it's ok when journalists get banned who write about things they don't like. It's not ok when journalists get banned who write about things they do like. If you're expecting some kind of moral consistency I think you'll be disappointed.
[1] explains: "the EU's Digital Services Act requires the respect of media freedom". Claiming that the suspended journalists are somehow doxxing Ol' Muskie by reporting on the elonjet fiasco isn't going to get past many bullshit filters.

At least Elon gave a reason. When the New York Post was banned for literally no reason, did the EU do anything?
Under the DSA? No, it didn't exist when that happened.

If it happened now, Twitter might be able to make the case that the posted materials were illegal (which was basically their stance at the time) and get the EU's blessing.

Otherwise, sure, they'd have the same problem they have today.
