Of course it is. Media is no longer about timeless storytelling, well written characters or plots that we will discuss for years on end.
All media must be about CurrentThing. There is no other lens or nuance for one to look at the world. everything is about Trump, politics, racism, and whatever currentThing is currently.
This approach leads to a few “YAAAS QUEEN!” tweets today …. But these films will not be relevant or discussed even 5 years from now. And that’s sad because there are many talented people involved in this stuff.
Actually, the movie was written in 2020-2021, before the Musk/Ye meltdown, but it's exactly why the script stayed relevant. The character of a doofus who walked into riches by taking reckless risks, walking over people, and then creating an image of a "genius" around the accidental success is rather timeless.
It is infact even more relevant than it would be in 2020/2021. Ed Norton is an obvious Musk parody, Kate Hudson is a parody of well Kanye, except the gender is flipped and Dave Bautista is a parody of the likes of Andrew Tate/Alex Jones.
