I haven’t found one as nice, but windy works well, if not for a lack of localized default settings. I currently use weather bug, but I have simply lowered my expectations when it comes to weather apps.
I’ve been using Carrot and I like it, but I feel like it has way more customization than I want. There’s so many menu layers and display panels and options.
No: Consider iPhone users with old phones which could open a browser to access darksky.net but cannot get the latest iOS (to which the updated weather app is tied.)
Also: Consider all the Android users which had the DarkSky app, plus all the other devices which could open a browser to visit darksky.net.
I have a Pixel 4a. I guess I do have a MBP I could use instead, but that's even more ridiculous. I'm not gonna take my laptop on a bike ride just to check the weather.
I guess what annoys me about Apple Weather is that data I could get with Dark Sky by simply scrolling now takes two clicks. There’s a big difference between .5” of snow a day and 12”, so being able to find this information quickly is important.
Adding more clicks to get to the same information feels like a regression.
It would be nice if I could specify in settings or something to “show these parts of weather data first” or something.
Also pet peeve but the radar map always loads slowly. In big square chunks, can take 3-5 seconds to fully render a storm system, whereas dark sky this was always pretty instant.
Yeah, I've been mostly using Apple Weather as I need to get used to it anyways. But for a few things, in particular precipitation amounts, I immediately switch back to Dark Sky.
Hi, I tried to do my best to get all the hourly weather data into a single chart vizualization - have a look at https://weathergraph.app
It uses (apart from soon to close Dark Sky API) yr.no, indie-made open-meteo, and Foreca (which consistently ranks among top 3 services at https://www.forecastadvisor.com and is similarly good in Europe).
The app cares about privacy, has no ads and no tracking (as this is how I like all apps to behave). A subscription or a single lifetime payment pays for weather data and all themes and weather metrics, but there is a free version with yr.no data.
I'll be happy to answer any questions - Tomas from Weathergraph.
I don’t have an issue with using the Weather app over darksky on my iPhone. My issue is that the darksky website was a pinned tab on my browser cause there’s no alternative weather website like it.
Dark Sky gave me a fast look at what I needed to know. The new Apple weather app is overloaded, too busy, and not particularly great to use. Steve is not amused.
I’m in Midwest and I care about feels like temperature more than the current temperature cause wind makes all the difference. I don’t want to scroll down to see feels like temperature every time. Apple weather makes it impossible to make feels like temperature default or like to add it to lock screen or widgets.
I love the forecast precipitation for the next hour, it used to scarily accurate, now it’s far wide if the mark.
Also the radar was interesting, seeing if the rain would just miss me, or go straight over me. Weather provides the information but it’s down a few taps, not easy to get to.

I use a few elements in my weather station website, and now need to find somewhere else to grab a few things.
Example from Dark Sky - https://forecast.io/embed/#lat=38&lon=-94&name=Test
I was going to probably go with Openweathermap for the time being.

Except you didn't solve it, either. Classic Apple.
