Ask HN: Why is ABNB using plaid?

ABNB wouldn't let me use my credit card without authing with Plaid (who I frankly don't trust because they're sitting on a pile of decryptable bank creds). I get that plaid solves a problem of bank interop but ABNB wanted me to do this _in order to use my credit card_, which I was pretty sure was a solved problem. Anyone know why the hell they do this?
