He compares the different battery heaters (heat pump vs resistance), depending on the model year, which is probably related here.

Sounds like a non-story. A car had a problem? I thought that happened all the time. Now if this was happening to lots of cars of the same model, that might mean something. Otherwise, I'd be on Fox News every time I had to take my car to the mechanic.
You're exactly right. ICE vehicles break down all the time. News outlets are only jumping on this "story" because it happened to be a Tesla.
That is a really strange way of looking at this.

From what I can tell, the car wasn't broken, it was operating as expected. It couldn't get the battery warm enough so it didn't charge. If you had replaced that specific Tesla with another one (modulo variations in battery heating technologically) it likely would have behaved the same.

The car isn't broken, it is in a fail state.

It would be important for Tesla to investigate these reports and take steps to address any underlying issues.
