Finding somewhere to rent can be a pain, especially living in big metro areas where the market is competitive.

Please share any hacks you've found for finding a high quality place at a decent price!

That's what I've been going with so far... Let's say it has its pros and cons xD

The extension is to rent from someone in your social network.

But, that has a massive downside.

Dealing with non-professionals.

Who are very likely to have a significant portion of their net worth tied up in the place you are living, not have longstanding relationships with trades like plumbing, roof repair, and appliance vendors, and feel entitled to be up in your business.

Not that properties managed by professional management companies don't have downsides.
