Ask HN: An Open Source Alternative to Google Calendar
Google Calendar is an amazing piece of software. There is little to complain about. I have been using it for more than 10 years now.
But, Google is not great at preventing accounts from closing for no reason.
I was wondering if people have open source alternatives to Google Calendar that allows for syncing between desktop and a phone (2 phones in fact). Ideally, I would like to own my data.

[ 3.9 ms ] story [ 26.9 ms ] threadI have a my.calendar text file in the cloud, which is both human- and pal- readable. But I also have a cron job that adds the clean version of the output to my daily journal file. This file is also synced via cloud storage and easy to review in a simple text editor on my phone or laptop, etc.
Just one way to do it very simply though. Good luck in your search.
On your Android phone, you'll usually have to jump through some non-obvious UX hoops to set it as the default account, but once set up, you forget about it.
