Ask HN: Does sweet sensitivity go down with age?

2 points by balaji1 ↗ HN
A childhood candy isn’t as sweet as I remember it.

Or are we exposed to sweeter sweets and more often these days and so I perceive the sweetness lesser. You know where I’m going with this haha - too much sensory overload.

Or is it just bad memory as usual :D

I'm guessing that you are more likely to be getting more sugar now than previously, particularly from commercially produced products. Be aware that sugar won't necessarily be identified as such in the ingredients list. I gave up adding sugar (and salt) MANY years ago and recommend it as one of my best health decisions ever!
salt? why?
Salt could be misunderstood.

This what I’ve learned video discusses salt and recommended standard sale amount might be too low: https://youtu.be/amJ-ev8Ial8

But if the GP comment is listening to his body, it’s fine.

I personally prefer more salty food(not snacks) than others around me. And the only opposition seems to be that less salt is better. And less salt means more mental stability.
