Priced at $9,999, who actually buys these? Spec ops snipper spotters who can’t afford to run out of battery using Canon’s IS? Mechanical binocular enthusiasts like with mechanical watches? Professional astrophotographers?
It seems all the prosumer users like birdwatching superfans would just go for the much more accessible Canon IS binoculars. The fact that they’re such old designs that no one has ever copied makes it sound like Zeiss keeps it around as a vanity product.
It’s not particularly indicated for serious deep sky astronomy given the small exit pupil of just 3mm. The eye pupil is easily double than that in the dark.
I think that the 8x56 is much better for that given the 7mm exit pupil.
