Show HN: RPis with OpenWrt, Pihole can adjustably moderate Social Media for kids (bhikkhu.ca)
I, for one, praise efforts to curtail and moderate Social Media, or even cloud access (wholesale) for kids, roughly aged 7-13 - who might have smartphones (but hopefully no data plans yet; perhaps SIM cards that can just make emergency cellphone calls, and SNS text msgs). This age group - still formative in their habits - may have yet to develop healthy boundaries as to how to regulate this themselves.
After like 100 hours of tinkering with 2 Raspberry Pis, I recorded 3 one-hour videos explaining how PiHole and OpenWrt can be used in conjunction, to increasingly restrict or relax access to specific Social Media sites - or the WAN at large - always leaving access to a local library of edifying ebooks, within the household LAN:
