This tech worker may have been directly inspired by Office Space, but the scheme was around for long before (I first heard about shuffling roundings from my parents).
And seemingly (though it is not very clear from the article) what he actually did was a completely different thing.
If I get the essence right, he altered prices for goods paid with his credit/debit cards that were actually delivered to his home, nothing to do with roundings.
