That prediction was not so off the mark. At least in the US tuberculosis, polio and leprosy are, if not eradicated, at least insignificant health concerns. Locomotor ataxia, I had to google it. It means problems coordinating you movements. It appears it was a problem when people used to have syphilis. But now syphilis is another disease that's been virtually eradicated.
As for cancer, we did not eradicate it, but we've made huge progress compared to 100 years ago. Heck, even compared to 30 years ago.
