Ask HN: Holiday, English or English?
Should holiday be used in the American English sense or the British English sense?
As a US English speaker, it annoys me when people who sound like me say 'on holiday' (as in "I'm going on holiday"). I think it's a British English pretention and is therefore pretentious.
I don't care if a UK English or Australian/New Zealand English sounding person says it.
Am I the only one who dislikes this?
