I wish we lived in a world where it was possible not to care about what billionaires like Musk did, but capitalism has placed civilization at their feet to dispose of as they will, and Musk in particular controls a primary engine of political communication, propaganda and discourse shaping for the Western world, so the rest of us should care at least a little.
They're both polarizing, but for different reasons. I'm not a fan of Musk, but his ability to reason and reflect on his mistakes is in a whole different league from Trump IMO. A major factor in the outrage over people supporting Trump is not about him, but about the bar being set too low in general.
Trump isn't like that iconic. Musk, like Trump, is just another rich asshole that will do just about anything to maintain their power and wealth... including lying and spreading conspiracies to appeal to a certain demographic. I think people should be more concerned that such a large demographic is easily manipulated and has little critical thinking ability and no moral compass. To them, these people are nothing more than a football game and all that matters is their team wins. They'd be cheering on Hitler if that was the team they picked.
