Middle Class has multiple definitions. Let's make it simple - you are either a property owner with significant disposable income after your mortgage obligations or are in a position to own property but choose not to. As far as I can tell, many in the working class identify themselves as middle class and that just is not true. I intend to run my own survey, on lawmakers, of what are the defining criteria for middle class in the context of documents they design.
I like this article. It has this lovely quote at the end "But given different life situations and perceptions of wealth, there’s a good chance not everyone who feels middle class actually is, and vice-versa."
