Roku has always been a strange company to me. As I understand it they got their start by selling streaming-service dongles. Is there still a market for these or is their core business now licensing software packages to SmartTV manufacturers? I don’t see this product being a successful offering; to me, seems like just another smartTV brand but without any reputation beyond minor bits of software.
Yeah. Agreed. They do have home theater speakers, but the question is if they'll be creating more of a headache than a solution. Seems like they would rub their licensees the wrong way by competing with them. And they'll need to figure out new distribution channels (who already have limited space due to ongoing relationships with TCL, Samsung, Sony, etc).
