Apparently Kansas banned the 3rd edition of O’Reilly's Python Cookbook for "Describes procedures for construction of weapons, ammunition, bombs, incendiary devices" and Connecticut banned everything related to Rick and Morty for unspecified reasons.
Sadly PA isn’t listed so I’ll never know if I had more or less rights in my old alternative school I blasted on Boing Boing than the literal prison that they kept threatening to throw me into.
It is indeed sad. There are folks in this system who perpetuate abuse for profit and/or sadism who should not be tolerated in a civilized society.
I'm the editor of the piece. We plan to put more data online in the coming months; we'll at least be able to surface the state's policy, if not their actual list, which depends on if they recorded anything and how well it was recorded.
I'm the data editor of this project. If anyone in this community knows (or is) the author of technical books that are banned in prisons, please reach out to me deads AT themarshallproject DOT org.
