It's debatable, while currently largely for entertainment, the future is bright for AR/VR. I expect ubiquitous AR/XR within 10 years. The interaction concepts are largely the same.
As far as education, there are interesting apps for anatomy, physics, conflict resolution / de-escalation / empathy... I imagine a world where these become an important tool in education. Exercise is another place where it is seeing adoption.
There are easily justifiable business use cases as well.
What are you hoping to get out of the experience / investment? You can certainly try it out for less than a new iPhone costs
