I've been very unimpressed with ChatGPT's performance on technical problems. I asked it to solve a problem in heat transfer, and I was initially excited because it gave a detailed answer, explaining how to set up and solve the problem using the Heat Equation, leading to a complicated integral followed by a closed-form expression for the answer.

Problem is--when I actually looked closely at the results, they were wrong: filling in the known initial and boundary conditions gave nonsense, unphysical answers. I then asked it to solve a couple of ordinary differential equations, and both answers were wrong.
