I thought it'd be fun to host a tournament to see what creative strategies people can come up with. I think the code might need to be cleaned up a tad ;)

I'd be willing to put $1,000 down personally to the prize pool.

1. What do people think? 2. Does anybody have any experience hosting such a tournament? Any advice? 3. Anybody wanna help make this happen?

Is it an interesting question? Would alpha zero be able to solve it quicker? To what resolution would the game be played?
I’ll match your $1k! DM me on Twitter if this takes off. Cheers for the ambition.

As for hosting the tournament, try to get GothamChess involved. It’s wacky enough that he might just be interested.

(Can’t wait to hear him shout “and they sacrifice… THE ROoOOok!”)

I just watched his Lex Friedman interview and I have to say even if you're not into chess you'll probably enjoy it just because of the charisma and energy between the two. You can tell they may have just met but the shared experience bonds them right away. I won't spoil too much, but just lookup "Lex Friedman Gotham Chess" on your search engine, you'll find it.
Analog chess? It's inherently digital. 8 integers either way, outcomes are binary.
Holy shit, that would be amazing! I released this mainly because I really want to know what the best strategies are and how different it is from normal chess.
Down to participate in the contest.
I will join if someone organizes it!
If you would want to run a tournament for this you'll probably need a better client, potentially with built-in online play. I could be tempted to work on something web based, but it would take a while to finish.
I wouldn't want to host the tournament, but I'm also down for working on a web-client.
