Rather than arguing about if/why the government was dishonest about this, at some point we need to come to terms with the fact that 3 years ago most Americans trusted the CDC and now that trust has been destroyed. So the question is, how do we fix it?

I would not expect this to happen quickly, but it needs to happen. I think to start the process, we need full disclosure and transparency and an actual apology from the government for the lies.

Honestly, what's more concerning is the fact the official news related to public health concerns is being shadow banned on HN.
Reminds me of this quote attributed to William F. Buckley Jr.:
