As a process that could convert some green waste or vegetative mass unsuitable for livestock feed to an oil, it opens up interesting opportunities. However it's not better by any means (and I expect they actually know this,) for the environment, if it were to go down the path of using sugar cane, in particular the end product raw sugar as a feed stock to drive the production of oil. Possibly there is an opportunity for the company if they were to branch out into sugar growing areas, as it may offer a better return for the by product of sugar cane milling, the bagasse, as a first stage process for raw wet bagasse that would consume any remaining sugars as well whatever the yeast might also consume.
