I’m waiting on a new 27 inch M2 iMac or better. Unless there are better alternatives?
A mac studio and a studio display, which is 27 inches. More expensive than the imac I imagine.

Mid product cycle according to: https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/mac-studio/

Or wait for that new 5k Samsung display to see its pricing. Could bring the total Studio+display pricing back in line with a high end 27” iMac.
I went ahead and bought the 27-inch iMac while it was still around. You can still find some new ones. After Apple introduced the 27-inch Studio Display, which was basically the same price as an iMac but without the iMac- while retaining essentially the same panel, it seemed that Apple was suggesting that they won’t be replacing the 27-inch iMac with an M-model.

Interesting tidbit: compiling an Unity engine game on my iMac 27 Intel with 8GB RAM is quicker than compiling the same game on my M1 Max with 16GB RAM. By compiling, I mean once in Unity and then again in Xcode to run the project on my iOS device.

Waiting on the regressions to be fixed:

* dual external monitors

* full speed usb 3.2 mass storage

Yay the processor is faster on my m1 but it’s also more useless as an actual computer now.

Last year's M1 Pro and M1 Max already give this. The Pro allows two external monitors in addition to the laptop screen. The Max allows four external, five total.
The base model regressed, and usb connectivity on all models is slowed.
All that Apple needs to do is drop the “Pro” moniker from the 13-inch model. It is just a fatter MacBook Air with a touchbar!
