How to include/embed text from one in another Google doc?

I'd like to create a set of docs that take text from other google docs (say, as subsections). I'd like the embedee doc to reflect changes from the embedded doc. I believe this already works for drawings.

The use case is to avoid creating several almost-identical versions of the same content in multiple places. But I could not find a way to do it natively, or with ad-ons.

I imagine that there must be a way to connect Google Docs with a CMS of some sort, but came up short.

Maybe there's a way to build a hacky CMS with app scripts.
