The "job" of a soldier is to die for its "country", whoever its "country" is.
A human is a “he” or a “she” or maybe a “they.” “It” is an inanimate object.
If only the people in charge viewed soldiers as humans
This is a funny comment after an article about Patton, who was famous for saying, "No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country."
Much surrounding the episode of the Bonus Army is shameful, but I wish articles about it would put the blame where it belongs. Patton was ordered into action by MacArthur, who was ordered by President Hoover.
