I mean why is that a problem unless it’s clearly being abused? The algorithm is just semi human which just Makes it better
the more we learn about tiktok, the more it seems to he designed to amplify and encourage bad behavior in humans
How so?
Google the death totals (particularly in children) from TikTok challenges.
Only brings up stuff about the "blackout challenge", which is something kids have been doing since before the internet.
It doesn't matter if it is "clearly" being abused, only if it is abused.
ByteDance has a history of censoring and boosting content for the Chinese government. Yes, including content for Americans.

>TikTok used to censor content that was critical of China, a senior executive admitted Wednesday.

> The censorship extended to content about the plight of Uighur Muslims in China, she said.

What if there's really no algorithm, and it's really just a bunch of human moderators intervening and controlling a few basic scripts?

-Questions no one is asking.

The focus on TikTok is counter productive, you build a sentiment that the goal is to ban tiktok because it's Chinese, that's racist, rather than raise awareness against social media in general

Now you get people complaining about CIA agents working at Google/Meta/Twitter doing moderation and who know what else (spying and profiling) [1]

How come Anti-Vax and bunch of conspiracy theorists grew on these US platform despite having CIA agents working there doing moderation, did they help push/promote them?

Yet none of that happen on TikTok, so why complain?

None of western youth want TikTok banned, they'll grow up being defiant against their institutions if that ever happen

"China" is an adversial foreign authortiatian government, not a race.

US has wide latitude for freedom of speech.

Unless your a person of color, a leftist, etc of course ? Or a Iraqi female artist making a floor mosaic of Bush to walk on ?
Bush was three presidents ago, if that's your concrete example I'd say you don't have leg to stand on.
It's really cute you think I couldn't have given more examples and didn't just choose an especially messed up example where the United States murdered an artist and then pretended It was a mistake
To whom? it's not adversial to me

Are you saying the US is an authoritarian government that enforce this view on me?

Is this why they can enforce their trade sanctions on everyone?

  > they'll grow up being defiant against their institutions if that ever happen
I'm sorry, are you saying that's a bad thing?
Weak institutions is what allowed the US to spread its military bases all over the world
But how naive... all social networks have it.
