Ask HN: If you had $1000 to spend on used workstation which one would you choose

Most machines I've seen from HP, Lenovo and Dell be they laptops or desktops have had some problem with build quality, crashing, drivers, USB hubs (sometimes plugging in too many devices cause other devices to get dropped), etc. These don't really seem to get in the way of getting work done.
