This post from several years ago hit me a formative time in my career and helped shape the way I think about technology and my role in it as a software developer.
My takeaway is that the most important thing we should do as people working in technology is to make life better in simple ways, we don't need to (and maybe shouldn't) seek to reinvent and revolutionize everything.
