Ask HN: How do you go about finding a friendly team?

I’ve been in the industry for 20 years and in various big tech FAANG for 10 of those years now. I’ve had my share of ups and downs but gotten promoted pretty much as high as I can get by my effort. I’m also lucky enough to not get laid off.

Unfortunately the last few years I’ve been quite unhappy with my day to day.

And I’m realizing slowly that a lot of it has to do with my immediate team. My teams used to be quite collaborative and friendly - polite, fun, helpful etc. But my last few teams since 2019 or so have all been incredibly silod and competitive.

I’m looking to get out of the big tech grind but I’d like to join a friendly team.

How do you go about finding this?
