I guess I am too old to not trust such systems and not old enough to really benefit from them.

I have a feeling, that Tesla is too occupied cutting corners with Tesla vision and saving couple hundreds removing ultrasonic sensors and radars. While others catch up and move forward. I guarantee, that radar had zero adoption if it had no benefit for all other car manufacturers. I observed radar evolution closer because by accident the lab near by was characterizing first 77 GHz automotive radar parts when I was an intern couple decades ago.

Suboptimal test that didn't evaluate the majority or advanced features for most of the contenders.

I've just taken delivery on a brand new 2023 rav4 cruiser hybrid. (it took 18 months for toyota to deliver!)

the adaptive cruise control and lane assist are quite good, but nowhere near "self drive" level.

The adaptive CC has three "range" settings. the longest is way to conservative, and tries to brake way too early, the medium setting is not much different to the longest setting and the shorted setting is very last stage aggressive on the brakes.

The lane assist is only any good if you have two white lines on the road. it wont do much for you in back country roads. It also has a very very annoying beeping noise that cant be turned off or down if you have CC on when going down a hill. because it refuses to use brakes in that situation and only uses engine back pressure to slow down... when it cant slow down fast enough it beeps at you. its super annoying and ruins a lovely country drive.
