Ask HN: Does anyone have a solution to the Netflix password crackdown?

"To ensure uninterrupted access to Netflix, connect to the Wi-Fi at your primary location, open the Netflix app or website, and watch something at least once every 31 days. This creates a trusted device so you can watch Netflix, even when you’re away from your primary location,"

Aside from not sharing passwords?
This seems like the right answer. Either pay for the service or use something else. There's no sense in paying for one account, then secretly using it as two accounts.

Pay for your own Netflix account or stop watching Netflix.
You can reverse engineer e.g. their Android app and if you're lucky maybe skip that wifi check
Huh. I did once travel for several months, and would have hated to lose Netflix access.

I'd like to think that the system is programmed to notice that I'm only watching from that device. Or perhaps not; it's a comparatively niche case. But it seems a simple fix for them to implement, since they'd have no other reason to think I was sharing my password.

Well, I hope that's not required, because I don't use Wi-Fi to watch Netflix. :p

If they start requring Wi-Fi, I'll cancel. If you don't like their terms, you should cancel as well.
