Very skeptical of this. Westerners have a pathological tendency to project themselves onto the developing world. Pretty much every successful attempt at getting birthrates under control in the most underdeveloped countries turns out to be a short-lived mirage that fades once the NGOs leave. Obviously, population can't keep growing forever but things can get much more crowded and uncomfortable before there is a crash.
