He says it's very thin and has not noticed static buildup. Understood but it doesn't have to be noticeable to cause damage.

Old components are more resistant against ESD though due to the relatively huge processing nodes. On the other hand, the boards lack conformal coating and the through-hole pins are an ideal entry point...
Please-please, do not put your precious PCB onto a carpet floor! You video shows that you spread the boards for demonstration of the carpeted office floor.
You will irreversibly fry your boards with static electricity discharges.
Everything fluffy (your pet rabbits), carpets, sweaters, t-shirts, textiles are not compatible with your collection of integrated electronics.
