Ask HN: Who wants a LED that blinks every time a new HN article is posted?

Silly idea, but I noticed that the articles are not posted very frequently - perhaps every few seconds. For some reason it seems that it would be satisfying/funny to have an old school LED that blinks every time one is posted. Pointless of course.

you could also have a led 7-segment display of your karma points

Make it blink like insane when a particular url pattern is posted. A link to your blog for instance.

You could use blink(1) [1] and write some Bash/Python glue to query HN and drive it.

This is probably more useful in general. It would be more satisfying as a small stand-alone desk ornament however (imo).

That's a funny idea, and I think it would be fun to create such a thing.

Do I want one? Oh hell no! What a distraction. Remember when phones used to have little blinking message LEDs?
